City of peace, its beauty and discreet charm have nourished for centuries its name “the veiled”, Fez, one of the oldest cities throughout the world, may seem at first like an impenetrable mystery-fascinating and totally foreign to most of us.
To get to the bottom of this enigmatic city, the most spread area in the country is to get your self lost in its hopeless cat’s cradle of streets among its different monuments, souks, hotels, garden and fountains. Here the donkeys and the horses with great round straw baskets have replaced cars and means of transport. Here the scent of spiced sausages, bay lead and pimento, olives and cumin seed take on a new meaning in these twisting streets.
Was it Voltaire who observed that travel is serious for frivolous people and frivolous for serious ones? Whatever your type, you will still want, sooner or later, to get down to the serious business of visiting the landmarks of Fez one by one.
